More blossom can be found at Houshan, although it's beginning to fade now. Also you can see strange rocks, a rather run-down temple, and great views of the surrounding countryside. Entrance RMB30.
You can get there by number 107 bus (catch it in Shengli Lu), or you can cycle there. It takes 45 minutes to an hour to cycle... go out of the North Gate and straight ahead towards the power station chimneys (as if you were going to the swimming pool). Turn right on Ping Jiang Lu and keep following this road across a big crossroads until you reach the New Century Grand Hotel (of the RNB100 buffet). Turn right here - you are on Renmin Dong Lu. Keep heading East out of the city straight, straight, straight along this road for 5 or 6 km and you eventually get to Houshan.
There is a more interesting cycle route through the countryside which takes a bit longer - but it is too complicated to describe here.
When you arrive there are plenty of food stalls both inside and outside the park to sustain you.
