There is a festival there from the 27th of March until the middle of April because the time is up for the new Longjing Tea.
We have been in Meijiawu tea village that is between the Lingyin Temple and Longjing Village and offers many Tea Houses and farms. Around the village we had a walk in tea fields where women are picking up the new leaves. When you walk through the village you can see in a hand people drying the leaves before packing them, in the other hand women with dark blue raincoats working in the fields. It's charming!
To get to the village from Hangzhou east train station, first take bus 28 (on your right when you come out the station) to Zheda zhongfu (浙大中府) bus station, then change to bus Y4 to Meijiawu Village (梅家坞).
The tea we tasted yesterday was really fresh, from a perfumed to a bitter taste, it depends on what you're looking for. The prices are around 100 RMB for a medium box of tea (50 grams).
